* **Access Layers**: These are key terms that Serval uses to describe the layers of access in an application.

| **Level**       | **Description**                                                                                                                                        | **Examples**                      |
| :-------------- | :----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | :-------------------------------- |
| **Application** | The application users are requesting access to. You can configure multiple instances of the same app (e.g., AWS Prod and AWS Dev)                      | Okta, Slack, GitHub, Linear       |
| **Resource**    | A group, team, or other logical division within an application. Many applications have a single "App Access" resource if no other resources are needed | Group, Channel, Team              |
| **Role**        | The permissions a user requests within an application or resource                                                                                      | Member, Owner, Admin, Super Admin |
